FRYOG Teacher & Student Teacher information and feedback
Teacher Training
DIPLOMA SCHEME - please read carefully and see comments under Student Teacher Information and Feedback.
The scheme covers the entire range of yoga - physical, mental, ethical, philosophical and spiritual. The Diploma is NOT awarded for any one
aspect: it is for COMPREHENSIVE/HOLISTIC yoga.
Camilla Morgon, who graduated in April 2008 from Gemma GrinterÕs Teacher Training Course says "I remember why I chose the course .... the
organisation is friendly and supportive, and I remember thinking that I felt very comfortable in the course that I could express my own individual
style to the practice rather than being told to teach in a certain way. The course allows each individual to develop their own feel and style
to their teaching; we explore different texts which are stongly based on Patanjalis eightfold path.
As a previous student, I would like to say that I enjoyed the FRYOG Diploma course and learnt so much. The benefits are so much more than
simply becoming a yoga teacher. We are learning the ethics and spiritual practices from the ancient texts which will enhance our teaching style
and also take us on our own journey into the more subtle benefits and aspects of yoga. The FRYOG tutors are supportive and helpful, experienced
and encouraging. Bonding with the group is an essential part of this two year course. Other members from my course have commented on the family
feeling."
Requirements to be accepted onto a FRYOG Diploma Course
Before a student can embark on the Diploma scheme, a basic, regular attendance at a class for a minimum of two continuous years under a qualified
yoga tutor is essential. (TutorÕs qualification can be any of those currently recognised).
A letter of confirmation of this attendance is required prior to embarking on the Diploma scheme together with brief details from the student
on their own experience and study of yoga and why they have decided to embark on a teacher training scheme. These documents are to be seen by
the tutor when registering for a course.
The student is expected to continue regular yoga practice in addition to the training course.
Membership of FRYOG
A student must become a member of the Society before commencing training by completing the relevant membership form and submitting this with
an annual subscription fee of £15.00 (£18.50 for overseas members) renewable annually on 1st January each year.
Costs & teaching hours
Training is undertaken by means of special courses run by approved tutors and may mean travelling to the nearest course programme. Course costs
depend on geographical location.
The courses are not necessarily run on specific 'tutorial hours' since candidates can vary in their ability to grasp knowledge. Teacher Training
takes 2 years.

FRYOG INTERNATIONAL TEACHING DIPLOMA
Theory
There are 15 essays to be completed on philosophy and principles and practice of yoga.
The student must complete the required written work and submit this for assessment to an independent FRYOG Diploma Board Assessor as directed
by the Diploma Board Officer PRIOR TO undertaking a practical assessment.
There will be a fee paid to the assessor.
Practical
The student must undertake a final practical class assessment under the supervision of an independent FRYOG Diploma Board Assessor or other
approved qualified tutor as directed by the Diploma Board Officer.
There will be a fee paid to the assessor.
Time span
The whole course both practical and theory should be completed in a minimum of two years.
The vital point is that the whole of yoga should be covered and it is important to understand that FRYOG does not offer 'fast track' courses.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE AWARD
The Diploma is issued at the discretion of the Diploma Board Officer, based on the theoretical and practical assessments together with a testimonial
from the candidate's own tutor. The award is not given for
either the practical or the theory assessment alone.
The grade awarded is either Pass or Refer. If an assessor does not feel the work is up to FRYOG standards then the student will be asked to
amend and resubmit their theoretical work and/or take another practical. The assessorÕs decision is final and will be supported by the Executive
Committee.
Insurance
FRYOG has negotiated insurance cover for qualified teachers once you have completed the teacher training course.
