Hatha Yoga is that branch of Yoga Philosophy which deals with the physical body: its care, its well being, its health, its strength and all that tends to keep it in its natural and normal state of health.
Ê
The day will explore the essence of classical yoga, particularly kirtan, asana and pranayama -
linking these practices to chakra healing and balancing and restoring the subtle energy system. We will also learn tips and tricks for creating a mindful, holistic and green approach, used to both cleanse our bodies and support the deeper energy functions that food relates to. The day will be a blend of practical, theory, demonstration and discussion. Please bring yoga mat and packed lunch although there will be unusual drinks and treats for you to try to aid the detox process.

It is not surprising that the majority of yoga practitioners are women. Women acknowledge the strength and power that yoga provides for them at all stages of their lives, from teenage to the golden years. Women have continued their yoga practice into their 90s and even 100s. Recent research has found that people who regularly practise yoga are 11 years younger, physiologically, than their contemporaries who donÕt. In the 21st century, the pressures on women are greater than ever, as they seek to balance the responsibilities of childcare, work and perhaps even caring for elderly or disabled relatives, with their own needs. The health needs of our women are paramount if they are to live a healthy and fulfilling life, both for themselves, their families and communities. Yoga provides the relief and the health benefits that women need to cope with all these responsibilities.
Ê
This one-day course will provide the skills and knowledge to teach yoga asanas, pranayama, mudras and healing meditations to women with particular health issues. The emphasis is on yoga for women of all ages, at their particular stage of life and for any special health needs. Course participants are asked to bring their experiences to share with the group during part of the
afternoon session.
